L'oie du Canada est considérée comme nuisible car elle pollue les cours d'eau avec ses excréments, cause des dommages à la végétation par piétinement et surpâturage. Cette oie fait un nid sur des îlots ou près de l'eau sur les rives, parfois sur de vieilles souches d'arbres. Fin avril, la femelle pond 5 ou 6 œufs. La femelle couve. Le mâle garde le nid.
