La feuille du chêne pédonculé (Quercus petraea) est ovale à arrondie, avec des lobes réguliers. On ne doit pas confondre le chêne pédonculé avec le chêne rouvre, dont il ressemble bien. La différence : la feuille du chêne pédonculé a un pétiole, les glands n'ont pas de pétiole. Pour le chêne rouvre, c'est l'inverse.
Les feuilles du chêne pédonculé sont parfois dévorées par la chenille processionnaire du chêne. Les poils urticants de cette chenille peuvent provoquer de fortes irritations chez les personnes et les animaux.
