Le château de Wakken était un véritable palais entouré de parcs, où se déroulaient de grandes fêtes et réceptions. Antoine I, le deuxième fils de Philippe le Bon, et de l'une de ses maîtresses Jeanne de Presle de Lizy, choisit en 1480 le château de Wakken comme résidence.
