Enghien était jadis surtout connu pour la production de tapisseries. N’hésitez pas à visiter le musée de la tapisserie dans la maison Jonathas datant du 16ème siècle. La ville est également située le long de l'ancienne voie romaine Bavay-Asse. Avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la ville d'Enghien avait encore une population majoritairement néerlandophone.
