La Tchécoslovaquie est un État souverain qui exista en Europe centrale durant 68 ans, sous plusieurs formes constitutionnelles successives, du 28 octobre 1918 au 15 mars 1939 et du 5 avril 1945 au 31 décembre 1992 ; entre le 15 mars 1939 et le 5 avril 1945, pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, elle était reconnue de jure par les Alliés mais de facto ne contrôlait pas son territoire, alors occupé par l'Axe et ses satellites.
