Süplingen se situe à environ cinq kilomètres à l'ouest du centre-ville de Haldensleben, dans le massif des Flechtingen. La localité de Bodendorf fait également partie de Süplingen.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le bureau de la Gestapo de Magdebourg a établi dans la carrière un soi-disant camp de travail éducatif pour 100 détenus, qui étaient contraints d’effectuer des travaux forcés dans la carrière de la société Frömling & Frasch, mais aussi dans des commandements extérieurs à l’usine de sciage d'Irxleben et dans l'agriculture. Au moins 20 personnes y ont perdu la vie.
