Luckau est une ville de l'arrondissement de Dahme-Spreewald dans le land de Brandenbourg, au sud de Berlin. Elle est située au cœur de la région slave de langue sorabe de Lusace, peuplée par les descendants Serbes des Sorbes et des Wendes depuis le Moyen Âge.
Avec ses voisines Lübbenau et Lübben, elle partage l'histoire de la région forestière et marécageuse de Spreewald.
