Alzey est une ville de 17 516 habitants, chef-lieu de l'arrondissement d'Alzey-Worms en Hesse rhénane, au sud-est du Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat en Allemagne.
Alzey compte parmi les Nibelungenstädte, puisque la ville est mentionnée dans le Nibelungenlied par la personne de Volker von Alzey. C’est pourquoi la ville est surnommée Volkerstadt.
