Le Gymnasium Petrinum est une école secondaire financée par l’État et le plus ancien gymnase de la ville allemande de Dorsten, en Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie.
La ville westphalienne de Dorsten abrite le plus ancien cloître continu de l’ordre franciscain d’Allemagne, fondé en 1488. C’est à partir de ce cloître que Petrinum a été créée en tant qu’école latine en 1642. Bien que la guerre de Trente Ans ait gravement dérogé à la richesse médiévale de Dorsten et à son statut de membre de la Ligue hanséatique des villes commerçantes internationales, le conseil municipal mobilisa le soutien aux efforts des clercs.
