Le château de Gemen est situé à Gemen, un Stadtteil de Borken, dans le paysage de Münsterland, dans l’ancienne zone marécageuse de l’Aa-strang germano-néerlandais. Le château actuel entouré de douves a été créé après une rénovation progressive d’un château vieux de plus de 900 ans, qui était autrefois habité par les seigneurs de Gemen, l’une des familles nobles les plus influentes de Westphalie à l’époque.
