Le Chiemsee [ˈkiːmzeː], parfois surnommé « la mer bavaroise », est le plus grand lac de Bavière et le troisième plus grand lac d'Allemagne, avec une superficie de 80 km2.
Situé au pied des Alpes bavaroises, à 90 km au sud-est de Munich et à 66 km à l'ouest de Salzbourg, le Chiemsee a été creusé par un glacier – une genèse typique des lacs de la région. Sa profondeur maximale est de 72 mètres, pour une profondeur moyenne de 26 mètres. Il se divise entre une grande section au nord-est, le Weitsee , et une section méridionale, appelée Inselsee . Il est alimenté au sud par les rivières Tiroler Achen et Prien et s'écoule au nord dans la rivière Alz.
