La prison de district de Saalfeld/Saale est une ancienne prison située à Saalfeld/Saale. Le bâtiment est aujourd'hui utilisé comme archives municipales et est classé monument historique. Dans le langage courant, il est souvent appelé "chapeau" en raison de sa forme architecturale remarquable.
Le bâtiment rond en forme de tour a été construit en tant que prison selon les plans de l'architecte rural de Meininge, Carl Rudolf Tröger, de 1857 à 1859 et a coûté 14 500 florins. Le 25 novembre 1859, il a été remis en tant que prison de district au duché de Saxe-Meiningen. En mai 1917, la dernière exécution a eu lieu, mais après la capitulation de l'Allemagne et l'occupation de Saalfeld par l'Armée rouge en 1945, des exécutions ont encore été effectuées. En raison des bombardements, 22 des 43 prisonniers ont été libérés en avril 1945.
