Das Amtsgefängnis Saalfeld/Saale ist ein ehemaliges Gefängnis in Saalfeld/Saale. Das Gebäude wird heute als Stadtarchiv genutzt und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Im Volksmund wird es aufgrund seiner auffälligen Bauform häufig Hutschachtel genannt.
Der turmartige Rundbau wurde als Gefängnis nach den Plänen des meiningischen Landbaumeisters Carl Rudolf Tröger von 1857 bis 1859 gebaut und kostete 14500 Gulden. Am 25. November 1859 erfolgte die Übergabe als Amtsgefängnis an das Herzogtum Sachsen-Meiningen. Im Mai 1917 fand die letzte Exekution statt, doch wurden nach der Kapitulation Deutschlands und der Besetzung Saalfelds durch die Rote Armee im Jahre 1945 noch Erschießungen vorgenommen. Wegen Bombenangriffen wurden im April 1945 22 von 43 Gefangenen beurlaubt.
