La station de métro Bochum Hauptbahnhof se trouve sous la gare principale de Bochum. Elle est desservie par les lignes U35, 302, 305, 306, 308, 310, 316 et 318 du tramway de Bochum.
La gare dispose de trois niveaux. Le niveau supérieur sert uniquement de niveau de distribution et possède quelques magasins et un bureau de service de la Bogestra. Au niveau intermédiaire, les lignes à écartement métrique 306, 308 et 318 s'arrêtent. Les deux voies se trouvent sur deux quais latéraux. Au niveau inférieur, deux halls abritent les voies à écartement standard pour la ligne U 35 et les voies à écartement métrique pour les lignes de tram 302 et 310, les deux quais étant situés entre les voies normales situées au centre et les voies à écartement métrique situées sur les côtés.
