La plus ancienne maison de paysan ou d'artisan du noyau historique de Schermbeck se trouve sur la Steintorstraße et a été construite entre 1566 et 1569. Après d'importants travaux de rénovation, elle sert depuis 1987 de musée des traditions, géré par l'association de l'histoire et du patrimoine. Le musée des traditions présente une exposition permanente sur l'histoire et la culture de Schermbeck, des objets provenant des métiers, de l'agriculture et des ménages, ainsi que des expositions temporaires principalement axées sur l'histoire locale. L'agriculture et le ménage plongent les visiteurs dans une époque révolue.
