Viloria de Rioja est une commune située dans le Nord de l’Espagne, dans la comarque de Montes de Oca dans la Communauté autonome de Castille-et-León, province de Burgos. C'est aussi le nom du chef-lieu de la commune.Viloria est citée dans un document datant de 1028, bien que son existence est antérieure. Viloria ou Ville d'Or, Ville de Aurea ou d'Oria. Dans le premier cas, cela signifierait ville riche ou charmante et, dans le second cas nous nous trouverions devant un personnage féminin qui peut intervenir dans la fondation de cette dernière. Précisément en l’an 1028 on trouve dans un document du monastère de San Miguel de Pedroso le nom de Villa Oria ; dont la religieuse doña Jimena faisait don au monastère.
