Altea est une commune d'Espagne de la province d'Alicante dans la Communauté valencienne. Elle est située dans la comarque de la Marina Baixa et dans la zone à prédominance linguistique valencienne. Altea est sur la côte de la Mer Méditerranée appelée la Costa Blanca.
De nos jours, l´économie d´Altea est basée principalement sur le tourisme qui s´est développé dans les années 1950 grâce au climat et aux plages de la région. La ville est protégée au nord par la Serra Bernia, qui lui permet de profiter d´un microclimat particulièrement doux.
