Le Caminito del Rey ou le chemin du Roi est un étroit sentier de montagne ou via ferrata qui longe les parois escarpées d'un étroit canyon à El Chorro. L'origine de ce chemin remonte à 1901. À cette époque, il était clair que les travailleurs des centrales hydroélectriques des chutes de Chorro et des chutes de Gaitanejo avaient besoin d'un chemin pour circuler entre les cascades et pour faciliter le transport des matériaux. La construction du chemin a duré quatre ans et il a été achevé en 1905. La référence au chemin du roi date de 1921. Cette année-là, le roi Alfonso XIII a emprunté ce chemin pour se rendre à l'inauguration du barrage Conde del Guadalhorce et le chemin est devenu connu sous son nom actuel.
