Monument emblématique de Cahors, le pont Valentré fut bâti à partir de 1308 à l'initiative des consuls de la cité. Entièrement construit en pierre de taille, il fait 172 m de longueur, comprend 8 arches et 3 tours, ces dernières culminant à plus de 40 m au dessus du niveau de l'eau.
Achevé vers 1380, il fut toujours entretenu. En 1998, le pont a été inscrit par l'UNESCO sur la liste du patrimoine mondial au titre des chemins de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.
Il est piéton depuis 1995. Le soir, profitez des éclairages pour découvrir le pont Valentré d'un œil différent.
Le petit diable que vous pourrez chercher sur la tour centrale rappelle la légende de ce superbe pont.
