Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, Linge est le théâtre de combats très violents entre les Allemands et les troupes françaises entre le 20 juillet et le 15 octobre 1915. Il y a eu 7000 victimes du côté allemand et français.
À Linge, il y a un musée à visiter et il y a un cimetière de guerre.
