Champfromier est une commune française, située dans le département de l'Ain en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.Champfromier , distante d'une quinzaine de kilomètres de Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, se situe sur la route d'accès au col de la Faucille par le sud-ouest du Jura.Le village se trouve à l'entrée de la vallée de la Valserine et fait partie du parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura .
