Morteau est une commune française située dans le département du Doubs, la région culturelle et historique de Franche-Comté et la région administrative Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
Petite ville du Haut-Doubs, nichée dans une vallée au cœur du massif du Jura, elle doit son développement notamment à l'industrie horlogère qui apparut dans la région à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. La localité est également connue pour sa gastronomie, symbolisée par sa spécialité de renommée nationale, la saucisse de Morteau. Elle est intégrée au parc naturel régional du Doubs Horloger.
