La Celle-Saint-Avant est une commune française du département d'Indre-et-Loire, en région Centre-Val de Loire.La commune appartient à l'arrondissement de Loches et au canton de Descartes. Elle est au sud du département d'Indre-et-Loire, sur les voies qui relient son chef-lieu Tours à Châtellerault dans le département de la Vienne. La commune, à 9 km au nord-ouest de Descartes, centre de perception, est au nord de la rivière Creuse, qui, à Port-de-Piles en face de La Celle Saint-Avant et en particulier du hameau riverain du Corps de Garde, s'approche de sa confluence avec la Vienne, au Bec-des-Eaux équipé d'un grand barrage.
