Parmain est une ville francilienne du Val-d'Oise, située sur la rive droite de l’Oise, à trente kilomètres à vol d’oiseau au nord de Paris. La commune, au caractère essentiellement résidentiel, avec le cœur historique du hameau de Jouy-le-Comte, fait partie de la région naturelle et historique du Vexin français et est membre fondateur du parc naturel régional du même nom. Elle forme avec L'Isle-Adam, son chef-lieu de canton situé sur l’autre rive de la rivière et avec qui elle partage sa gare, une agglomération d’environ 16 000 habitants. Ses habitants sont les Parminois et Parminoises.
