Sèvres est une commune française du département des Hauts-de-Seine en région Île-de-France. Elle est limitrophe des communes de Chaville, Boulogne-Billancourt , Meudon, Ville d'Avray et Saint-Cloud. Elle est en bordure, et au sud-ouest de la Seine. La commune de Sèvres résulte d'un peuplement progressif au fil des siècles mais prend forme surtout à partir de la fondation du Château de Versailles, qui ouvre un axe Versailles-Paris profitable à la commune.
