Fouday est une commune française située dans la circonscription administrative du Bas-Rhin et, depuis le 1er janvier 2021, dans le territoire de la Collectivité européenne d'Alsace, en région Grand Est.
Elle avait fusionné avec les localités voisines de Waldersbach, Belmont et Bellefosse pour former le Ban-de-la-Roche, calqué sur un territoire historique. Rétabli dans son indépendance le 1er janvier 1992, ce village vosgien de moyenne montagne a intégré diverses structures de coopération intercommunales : SIVOM en 1980, puis district puis, finalement, la communauté de communes de la Vallée de la Bruche.
