Le duché d’Alsace est une ancienne subdivision territoriale et militaire du royaume franc d’Austrasie à l’époque mérovingienne. Établi le long du Rhin et des Vosges jusqu’au Jura et à l’Aar, ce duché est créé vers 640 pour défendre la région face aux révoltes répétées des Alamans. Son administration est confiée à la famille des Étichonides qui fonde plusieurs monastères et détient de nombreux biens dans la région.
