Riche d'un patrimoine architectural datant du Second Empire qui s'était accompagné de la création en 1861 d'un jardin Anglais, appelé jardin Darralde (en l'honneur du docteur Darralde, Inspecteur des Eaux, qui par ses travaux de recherche, a confirmé la notoriété des eaux thermales),les plus anciennes plantations d'arbres datent de cette époque. Certaines espèces comme le Thuya plicata venaient d'être introduites en France. Cèdre, séquoia géant, cyprès de Lawson, érable, tilleul, magnolia, marronnier, platane, épicéa, cerisier à fleurs du Japon et à grappes, saule pleureur, prunus... 64 essences recensées dans le jardin et une douzaine sur le chemin de la promenade Horizontale.
