L'atelier est situé en plein du village de Larressore (3km d'Espelette).
La famille Ainciart Bergara fabrique le makhila (ou makila) depuis plus de 200 ans en associant le bois de néflier, le cuir et différents métaux (laiton, maillechort, argent). L’atelier occupe deux lieux complémentaires : l’atelier de fabrication et une salle de projection. Le savoir-faire de l'atelier est inscrit à l'inventaire des métiers d'art rares dans le cadre de l'UNESCO pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel immatériel. L'atelier Ainciart Bergara est labellisé EPV de + 100 ans et plus, Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Ministère de l'Economie).
