Nommé vicaire-résident en juin 1945, l’abbé Adolphe Jacobs s’investit fortement pour obtenir la construction d’un nouvel édifice dans le quartier de Marienau. En 1951 est constituée l’Association de la construction de l’église catholique de Marienau et la maîtrise d’œuvre est confiée à l’architecte André Le Donné qui réalise un véritable modèle d’église nouvelle et économique.
