In juni 1945 werd abt Adolphe Jacobs benoemd tot vicaris-resident en ijverde hij voor de bouw van een nieuwe kerk in de wijk Marienau. In 1951 werd de vereniging voor de bouw van de katholieke kerk in Marienau opgericht en werd de architect André Le Donné belast met de bouw van een nieuwe en zuinige kerk.
