Au cours de la décennie 1920-1930, l’étendue des champs d’exploitation nécessite la création d’un nouveau puits d’aérage. Dans les années 1950, le puits est alors ravalé de 350 à 450 mètres de profondeur. Plus tard, en 1978-1979, le puits Simon 3 est approfondi jusqu’à 843 mètres. En 2001, la recette est démolie et le puits fermé.
