On compte quatorze oratoires sur la commune de Sare, dont cinq situés sur la galzada (voie médiévale) qui se trouve à proximité du centre du village. Ils furent édifiés selon la tradition, au XVIIe siècle, à la suite de vœux formulés par les marins pêcheurs de Sare.
Un oratoire est un petit monument religieux voué au culte d'un saint.
Sare est le village basque qui possède le plus d'édifices religieux.
