Le quartier fut reconstruit dans les années 60, avec un projet novateur, conçu sur deux niveaux : pour les piétons et la circulation, avec des barres de 4 à 8 étages, il est aujourd'hui un centre d'habitat et administratif avec l'installation en 1983 dans l'ancienne abbaye Saint Clément de l'Hôtel de Région.
