Cette chapelle a été construite au 18ème siècle. C’est l’ancienne chapelle du collège des Jésuites, venus s’installer à Verdun en 1570. Elle est dédiée à Saint-Nicolas car construite à l’emplacement de l’ancien hôpital médiéval Saint-Nicolas de Gravière. On l’appelle aussi Buvignier comme le collège attenant, en mémoire d’une grande famille verdunoise.
