Vireux-Wallerand est une commune pittoresque qui occupe un site privilégié dans la Vallée de la Meuse. Sa rive droite du fleuve est bordée de jolies villas entourées de jardins qui constituent un des charmes de la commune.La commune de Vireux-Wallerand est devenue française il y a un peu plus de 3 siècles, en 1678 plus précisément, et était auparavant terre de Luxembourg.De l'appartenance aux Comtes de Luxembourg, rois de Bohème, les habitants de Vireux-Wallerand furent qualifiés de "Bohémons" puis "Boïamons" d'où le nom donné aujourd'hui aux habitants de cette commune, à savoir : Les Bayamonts.Vireux-Wallerand possède un patrimoine architectural qui mérite le détour : L'église Saint-Georges, mais aussi le château situé en bord de Meuse au sein d'un parc, et datant de 1714, puis le château du Risdoux qui date du XVIIIe siècle aujourd'hui réhabilité par des particuliers en hôtel.
