Construite au XIXe siècle, a remplacé un vieil édifice en ruine, dépendance du Château de La Mothe. Elle est aujourd'hui rattachée au village de La Vernède. Reconstruite grâce aux dons des habitants des villages de La Vernède & de Serre. Elle domine l'étang de Sagne Jurade & devient parfois un lieu d'exposition en saison estivale.

La chapelle du Clavaire est située sur l'itinéraire de Grande Randonnée 41 : Vallée du Cher.
