Le château de Campet est une demeure noble reconstruite à partir de 1640 sur les bases d'une forteresse brûlée durant les guerres de religion.
Au XIXe siècle, l’architecte landais Augustin Arthaud participe à la modernisation du domaine, qui prend son allure actuelle. La partie du sud du bâtiment est détruite, les anciens jardins à la française sont remplacés par des jardins à l’anglaise et près de 3 000 arbres et arbustes sont plantés.
Il est inscrit aux monuments historiques par arrêté du 22 décembre 1987.
