Palmiers, pyramides, sphinx... L'Egypte est à l'honneur. Cette jolie place a été construite en hommage à l'égyptologue Auguste Mariette Pacha . On y trouve même une reconstitution du bateau solaire qui a transporté le corps de Khéops sur le Nil "du pays des vivants au monde des morts" vers 2650 avant J.C.
Le célèbre égyptologue boulonnais, figé dans le bronze, surveille la ville du haut d'une pyramide .
