Whitechapel est une station des lignes : District line et Hammersmith & City line, du métro de Londres, en zone 2. Elle est située au 277 Whitechapel Road, à Whitechapel sur le territoire du Borough londonien de Tower Hamlets.
La station est mise en service en 1876, lorsque la ligne principale du chemin de fer est de Londres a été étendue au nord de Wapping à la station de Liverpool Street desservant la gare homonyme. L'ELR était propriétaire des voies et des gares, mais pas des trains qui y circulaient. Ainsi plusieurs compagnies desservaient alors la station : la London, Brighton and South Coast Railway , la London, Chatham and Dover Railway , la South Eastern Railway , puis enfin la Great Eastern Railway .
