Stonehenge est un monument mégalithique composé d'un ensemble de structures circulaires concentriques, érigé entre -2800 et -1100, du Néolithique à l'âge du bronze. Il est situé à treize kilomètres au nord de Salisbury, et à quatre kilomètres à l'ouest d'Amesbury .
L'ensemble du site de Stonehenge et le cromlech d'Avebury, à une quarantaine de kilomètres au nord, sont inscrits sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco dans un ensemble intitulé « Stonehenge, Avebury et sites associés ». Le site attire environ un million de visiteurs par an.
