Kirkby Stephen est un bourg de Cumbria, dans le Nord Ouest de l'Angleterre qui faisait partie du comté traditionnel de Westmorland .
Ce village est situé sur la route A685 et entouré par des collines peu peuplées, et à environ 50 km des deux grandes villes Kendal et Penrith. La rivière Eden prend sa source à 10 km dans les tourbières High Seat et coule sur le côté est de la ville.
