Cunliffe-Owen Aircraft était un fabricant britannique d'avions de l'ère de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ils étaient principalement un atelier de réparation et de révision, mais aussi un atelier de construction pour les designs d'autres entreprises, notamment le Supermarine Seafire. La société a également entrepris des travaux sous contrat pour le ministère de l'Air, Lord Rootes, Shorts et Armstrong Siddeley d'une valeur de 1,5 million de livres. Après la guerre, cependant, l'entreprise a commencé à rencontrer des difficultés financières et en février 1947, une demande de Midland Bank pour étendre le découvert de l'entreprise a été refusée. En novembre de cette année-là, il est devenu nécessaire de suspendre la production de l'avion Concordia – sur lequel reposaient tous les futurs espoirs de l'entreprise – et son effondrement financier est devenu inévitable.
