L'embusc de Warrenpoint a été une attaque de l'IRA provisoire contre l'armée britannique à Warrenpoint le 27 août 1979, qui a causé 38 pertes parmi les soldats, dont 18 ont été tués, le même jour où Louis Mountbatten, un membre de la famille royale anglaise et cousin de la reine, a été assassiné. Les forces britanniques ont tué 1 civil et en ont blessé un autre avec leurs tirs.
