Lucques est une ville italienne d'environ 89 000 habitants, chef-lieu de la province du même nom, située en Toscane. Elle fut autrefois, avant la réalisation de l'unité italienne, une ville libre puis la capitale de la principauté souveraine puis duché de Lucques . Elle se trouve non loin de la mer Tyrrhénienne, plus exactement à une vingtaine de kilomètres de la côte ligure .
