En juin 1956, Jacques Anquetil a battu le record du monde de l'heure de vitesse en parcourant 46,159 km sur le circuit Vigorelli à Milan. Jacques Anquetil était surnommé M. Chrono car il était si fort en cyclisme sur route. Il est également connu pour sa déclaration : "Pour se préparer à une course, il n'y a rien de mieux qu'un bon faisan, du champagne et une femme."
