L’université de Rome « La Sapienza », , est la principale université italienne. Elle est également appelée simplement La Sapienza.
Le terme italien sapienza est traduisible en français par « sagesse », mais aussi par « savoir », « science » ou « connaissance », et fait référence à l'église Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza, qui fut édifiée en tant que chapelle de l'université.
