Leonardo, anciennement Finmeccanica, est le second groupe industriel italien, un des premiers constructeurs au monde d'hélicoptères civils et l'un des principaux groupes internationaux du secteur aéronautique et spatial. Il est présent dans la défense, les hélicoptères, l'aéronautique, l'espace et l'énergie.
La société est installée dans plus de cent pays et notamment en Grande-Bretagne et aux États-Unis, où le groupe a racheté de nombreuses entreprises de défense. Il employait plus de 70 000 salariés fin 2011 et a réalisé cette année-là un chiffre d'affaires de plus de 17 milliards d'euros.
