Les Arabes ont construit une fontaine près d'une source d'eau dans le hameau d'Alqamah, décrite dès 1154 .
Un fort tremblement de terre, survenu à la fin du XIVe siècle, semble avoir endommagé la fontaine, qui fut ensuite reconstruite. Avec le transfert de la vie urbaine autour du château, une activité d'élevage de moutons autour de la fontaine est née, créant la nécessité de construire un abreuvoir . La façade présente deux éviers, deux évacuations d'eau (cannoli) et des pilastres surmontés de chapiteaux. L'abreuvoir, constitué de pierres de calcarénite travertinoïde, a été construit dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle.
