Plus de 10 000 participants se rendent chaque année à Echternach le mardi suivant la Pentecôte, pour participer à une tradition aujourd’hui classée au patrimoine mondial. La procession luxembourgeoise à Echternach est aussi appelée procession de saut ou Sprangprëssioun. Au Moyen Âge, la procession faisait trois pas en avant, puis un pas en arrière. En raison du chaos que cela a causé, la méthode de marche a été modifiée en 1947. Les participants étaient attachés ensemble avec des mouchoirs blancs et sautaient au rythme de la marche processionnelle. Cela se fait en l’honneur et à la gloire de saint Willibord.
